Lowest Ever Score at Castle Park?

In a quite remarkable session C&EE Second XI dismissed Loughton Second XI for just 22 runs, with Andrew Scrase taking 5 wickets for 2 runs and Alex Young 5-14. Both bowlers maintained a great line, not giving any scoring opportunities and with a little seam movement induced eight edges caught behind the wicket. Young keeper Ed Greenwood bagged five catches.

With the innings wrapped up inside 90 minutes, Kieran Dale knocked off the required runs inside 5 overs and an early tea was taken and the Essex groundstaff got an unexpected afternoon off.

A win next week against Leigh-on-Sea will guarentee promotion but Hornchurch are still hot on our tail at the top.

The Third XI wrapped up a satisfying win over Southend & EMT, batting first they got off to a reasonable start before a middle order collapse left them at 138-9. Steve Wombwell (43*) and Neil Lenihan (23*) put together a half century partnership to allow skipper Neil Parsons to declare at 198-9.

Ollie Bocking opened the attack with a sharp spell of bowling but it was the accuracy of Mark Vickers (8-4-8-4) that destroyed the Southend batting line up to seal the win.

Other results left the Third XI top of Division 3 but remaining games against Buckhurst Hill and Belhus remain critical and as these two also have to play one another Hornchurch 4th XI are still in with a shout of promotion.
